Warranty Policy
Luxury watches are precision instruments. This policy explains how warranty coverage works when it is provided with an eligible MDV Watches LLC purchase, what may be covered, what normally falls outside warranty coverage, and what to do if you experience a problem with your watch.
Warranty coverage depends on the individual purchase.
MDV Watches LLC buys, sells and sources a range of luxury, pre-owned and vintage timepieces. The age, manufacturer, service history and circumstances of these watches can vary significantly.
For that reason, customers should not assume that every product carries the same warranty period or identical warranty coverage.
Where MDV Watches warranty coverage is provided, the applicable listing, invoice, written warranty information or transaction-specific documentation should be reviewed together with this policy.
Check the warranty information for your specific watch.
A general website policy does not create a particular warranty duration where none was stated for the individual transaction. If warranty coverage is important to your purchase, ask MDV Watches for confirmation before buying.
Mechanical protection is different from a condition guarantee.
Where applicable, watch warranty coverage is generally intended to address qualifying mechanical or functional issues that arise within the scope of the warranty provided. It should not automatically be interpreted as a guarantee against every future issue, cosmetic change or consequence of normal use.
Movement & Function
A qualifying internal mechanical or functional problem may be considered where it falls within the warranty supplied with the purchase.
Appearance & Wear
Scratches, fading, patina and other cosmetic characteristics are generally condition matters rather than mechanical warranty matters.
Transaction Terms
The actual coverage for your watch depends on the warranty information applicable to that particular transaction.
What may qualify for warranty review?
Depending on the warranty supplied with your purchase, a qualifying mechanical issue may be reviewed by MDV Watches. Coverage is not determined solely by the type of symptom; the cause of the issue and the applicable transaction terms also matter.
Movement
A qualifying internal movement malfunction may be eligible for review.
Timekeeping
Material timekeeping concerns may be assessed in light of the watch's age, movement and applicable warranty.
Functions
A qualifying issue involving a covered watch function may be reviewed.
Workmanship
An issue associated with qualifying work performed or arranged as part of the applicable warranty may be assessed.
What is generally outside mechanical warranty coverage?
Unless expressly included in the warranty provided for a specific transaction, the following types of matters would generally not be treated as covered mechanical defects.
Normal Wear
Scratches, scuffs, bracelet wear, strap wear and other ordinary cosmetic changes associated with use.
Accidental Damage
Damage resulting from impact, dropping, crushing or other external events.
Misuse
Damage caused by inappropriate operation, improper handling or use outside reasonable expectations for the watch.
Unauthorized Work
Problems caused or materially affected by unauthorized third-party repair, modification or intervention.
Cosmetic Aging
Natural fading, patina, discoloration and age-related appearance, particularly on vintage watches.
Loss Or Theft
A product warranty is not a replacement for appropriate insurance against loss, theft or accidental damage.
Never assume a pre-owned or vintage watch remains water resistant.
Water resistance can change over time as seals, gaskets, crowns, crystals and other components age or are serviced.
A historical manufacturer's water-resistance specification does not by itself establish the present water resistance of a pre-owned or vintage watch.
Unless current water resistance has been expressly confirmed for the specific watch, customers should not assume that exposure to water is covered by warranty.
Vintage watch?
Ask about current testing before exposing a vintage or pre-owned watch to water. Historical specifications should not be treated as a current test result.
Mechanical watches do not behave like quartz clocks.
Mechanical timekeeping can vary according to movement design, age, position, power reserve, temperature, magnetism, service condition and wearing habits.
A vintage watch should not automatically be expected to meet the same performance characteristics as a newly manufactured modern watch.
No universal accuracy promise
Unless a specific timekeeping tolerance has been expressly stated for the individual product or transaction, this policy should not be interpreted as creating a fixed seconds-per-day accuracy guarantee.
Age is part of the character of a vintage watch.
Vintage watches can be decades old. Their components, tolerances, seals, finishes and servicing histories may differ substantially from modern watches.
Patina, fading, previous polishing, bracelet stretch, replaced service components and other age-related characteristics may form part of a watch's condition and history rather than representing a warranty defect.
“Running” does not automatically mean “recently serviced.”
A watch may be functioning at the time of sale without having a recently documented full movement service. Service history should only be assumed where it is specifically stated or supported by the information provided with the product.
Where service history is important to your purchase decision, ask for the available information before completing the transaction.
Manufacturer coverage and MDV coverage are not automatically the same.
Some watches may be accompanied by manufacturer warranty documentation. Whether a manufacturer warranty remains active, transferable or valid for a particular owner can depend on that manufacturer's own terms.
The presence of a manufacturer's warranty card should not automatically be interpreted as confirmation that manufacturer coverage remains active.
Check separately
If manufacturer warranty coverage is important to you, confirm its status and applicable terms before purchase.
An MDV Watches warranty, where supplied, is separate from any warranty provided directly by a watch manufacturer unless expressly stated otherwise.
Contact MDV Watches before anyone opens or repairs the watch.
If you believe your watch has a warranty issue, do not immediately arrange independent repair, modification or servicing. Third-party intervention can make it more difficult to establish the original issue and may affect warranty eligibility where the intervention causes, contributes to or materially alters the problem.
Stop & Document
Record the issue and avoid unnecessary operation if continued use could worsen the problem.

Assessment
The watch may need inspection before warranty eligibility can be determined.
Resolution
If covered, MDV Watches will determine an appropriate resolution consistent with the applicable warranty.
Provide as much useful information as possible.
A clear description can help determine the appropriate next step before a watch is shipped or inspected.
Include:
- Order number
- Watch brand and model
- Description of the issue
- When the issue first appeared
- Relevant photographs or video where useful
- Recent service or repair information
- Any other information relevant to the problem
Do not ship a warranty watch without instructions.
High-value watches require appropriate packaging, shipping and security procedures. Contact MDV Watches first and follow the return or service instructions provided for your particular case.
A reported problem does not automatically establish warranty coverage.
The watch may need to be inspected to identify the nature and cause of the reported issue. The assessment may consider the movement, case, crown, components, signs of impact, moisture exposure, previous repair, modification or other factors relevant to the claim.
A determination can then be made based on the applicable warranty terms and the circumstances identified during assessment.
Covered claims are handled according to the circumstances.
Where an issue is confirmed as covered, the appropriate resolution will depend on the nature of the defect, the watch and the applicable warranty.
Assessment
Additional diagnosis may be required before work can be determined.
Repair
A covered mechanical issue may be addressed through appropriate repair where suitable.
Other Resolution
Where repair is not the appropriate solution, another remedy may be considered where required by the applicable warranty or law.
Some watches take longer than others.
Vintage movements and specialist parts can require additional assessment, sourcing or service time.
There is no universal repair timeframe.
The time required can depend on diagnosis, watch complexity, parts availability, specialist requirements and other circumstances.
MDV Watches should therefore not be understood as promising a fixed service completion date unless a particular timeframe is expressly confirmed.
External wear is different from an internal mechanical defect.
Leather, fabric and rubber straps naturally wear through use. Metal bracelets and clasps can develop scratches, looseness or additional wear over time. Vintage bracelets may already display age-related stretch.
Unless specifically covered by the applicable warranty, normal deterioration of these external components should not automatically be treated as a warranty defect.
Battery life is a consumable consideration.
For quartz watches, battery life can depend on battery age, movement, functions and previous use. A battery is a consumable component and should not automatically be interpreted as having a guaranteed lifespan unless specifically stated.
If a quartz watch stops unexpectedly soon after purchase, contact MDV Watches before arranging outside work if you believe there may be a qualifying issue.
These are separate questions.
Authenticity concerns whether a product is genuine and how its components are represented. Warranty concerns qualifying issues that arise within the scope of applicable post-purchase coverage.
A genuine vintage watch can still require maintenance. Likewise, the need for future service does not by itself determine authenticity.

Product Authenticity Policy →Existing condition is assessed at purchase. Warranty concerns what happens afterward.
Pre-existing scratches, patina, fading, bracelet stretch, polishing and other disclosed or visible condition characteristics should be considered when purchasing the watch.
They do not become mechanical warranty defects simply because the watch is pre-owned.
You have just received the watch.
If you believe the product arrived damaged, incorrect or materially different from the listing, the return process may be relevant.
Refund & Returns →A return request and warranty claim are different processes.
A return generally concerns sending an eligible purchase back under the applicable return terms. A warranty claim generally concerns a qualifying issue under warranty coverage applicable to the watch.
If you are unsure which applies, contact MDV Watches before taking further action.
Good care helps protect a fine watch.
Luxury watches are durable objects, but they remain precision instruments. Appropriate care can reduce avoidable damage and help preserve condition.
Impact
Protect the watch from unnecessary shocks and impacts.
Water
Do not assume water resistance without current confirmation.
Magnetism
Strong magnetic exposure can affect some mechanical watches.
Service
Seek appropriate professional advice when maintenance is required.
Common ownership questions.
Does every MDV Watches purchase have the same warranty?
No. Coverage can depend on the individual product and transaction. Review the warranty information applicable to the watch you are purchasing.
How long is my warranty?
Refer to the listing, invoice, written warranty information or other transaction-specific documentation supplied with your purchase. This general policy does not create a fixed warranty period for every product.
Are scratches covered?
Ordinary scratches and cosmetic wear are generally condition or ownership matters rather than internal mechanical warranty defects.
Is my vintage watch waterproof?
Do not assume so. Historical water-resistance specifications do not prove present water resistance. Ask about current testing if water exposure is important.
Does “running” mean the watch was recently serviced?
No. A functioning watch is not necessarily a recently serviced watch. Service history should only be assumed where it is specifically stated.
Can I take the watch to my own watchmaker first?
If you believe there is a warranty issue, contact MDV Watches first. Third-party work may complicate assessment and can affect coverage where that work causes or materially changes the issue.
Is bracelet stretch a warranty defect?
Age-related bracelet stretch is common on some pre-owned and vintage watches and is generally considered part of condition unless expressly represented otherwise.
What should I do if my watch suddenly stops?
Contact MDV Watches with your order details and a description of the issue. Avoid arranging outside repair before receiving guidance if you believe the matter may fall under warranty.
